Item Description...

Overview
Award-winning novelist Walter Wangerin Jr. and his adopted son, Matthew, share their deeply personal story. Each in his own words, father and son narrate the history of their relationship and how they found new meaning?and new identities?through times of brokenness, hope, and rediscovery. Father and Son is a profound meditation on fatherly love and a son?s independence¬?and one family?s search for reconciliation.

Gift of Grace Books was established to glorify God in thanksgiving for his abundant grace. 2 Corinthians 4:15 "All this is for your benefit, so that the grace that is reaching more and more people may cause thanksgiving to overflow to the glory of God."

Reviews - What do our customers think?
good subject matter  Dec 28, 2008
This book deals with the problems of teen rebellion and questions of adopted children. The book is unique in that you hear the father's side of the story, and then toward the end of the book, you hear the narrative from the troubled son. The style of the author was a bit bothersome to the story line. He loves parentheses, and sticks ramdom phrases in the middle of sentences, so that you must re-read to catch the meaning. it seemed to skip back and forth a bit between time periods. But overall i thought it was a good product for anyone who thinks, "where did i go wrong with this child?" Even in the best of homes, kids can be unhappy and they can rebel. Also, it shows that in the end, the child did emerge from his rebellion, and you hear what was going on in his head at that time.
Book would profit from being edited and streamlined a bit, but i would still recommend it.

The Poignant Truth  Jul 1, 2008
No fairytale this, but an honest sharing of the realities that tested this father-son relationship from the perspectives of each. A tribute to the strength of love.

Touching Story  Jun 7, 2008
This is a deeply emotional book about broken lives and redemption. Reading the brutally honest story of this father and son team touched my heart. If you have a rocky relationship in your life that you don't think can ever be made right, this book will give you hope.
