 | Disapointed Apr 20, 2009 |
| While there are many more stories to tell from the Bible than the ones that are typically included in children's books, this selection was at times shocking. I also understand that there are many instances in the Bible of horrible atrocities with lessons to be learned from an adult perspective. However I wouldn't enjoy explaining these to my 6 year old. Several stories, in my opinion, were not suitable for my children to hear. The stories of Hagar, Dinah, and Lot stand out, with semi graphic depictions of brutality, murder, and rape. Reading these would undoubtedly lead to questions from my daughter that at this point I shouldn't need to answer. | | | | Love it! Jun 3, 2008 |
| We are in the middle of this one and are really enjoying it! My 6 1/2 year old son really likes these stories! The illustrations are beautiful and the "growing time" section after each story tells interesting facts, asks questions and helps your child apply the lessons to his/her own life. If you are looking for a nice collection of bible stories and your child has outgrown the really "kiddie" versions, this is a great chioce! | | | | Great author does a nice job for kids! | I haven't gotten a chance to listen to all of the cds, but from what I've heard so far I really like. Some of the stories are told from a characters perspective (what Francine Rivers is so well known for!), the only thing I would say is that its probably a little over my 5 year olds head for that reason (she doesn't understand why Mariam is telling Moses' story, etc) but I play them for her at night anyway- what can it hurt??? I look forward to using them often when she is a little older. | | | | a bit disappointed Sep 26, 2007 |
| Francine Rivers is one of my favorite story tellers, but I was disappointed in the art work in the book. I don't know what I expected, but I felt it was a bit cartoon-like. | | | | Review of Bible Stories for growing kids Sep 21, 2007 |
| This book is really wonderful. It tells they story about Bible characters. It covers a lot of information that is not touched on in the typical books of Bible stories. It brings out the lesser known stories and covers the common ones from a different prespective. I have always loved Francine Rivers work so I wasn't suprised to find this book absolutely delightful, inspirational and well written. | | | Write your own review about Bible Stories For Growing Kids
