Item Description...
Author Rachel St. John-Gilbert helped the unconventional woman Wake Up Laughing-now she follows that popular devotional with the brand-new Laugh Yourself to Sleep. These quirky, contemporary, relatable, and often laugh-out-loud-funny readings are designed to encourage women of all ages to feel their heavenly Father's imprint on their daily lives-and what better way for today's harried woman to drift off to dreamland each night? "The messages behind the laughs opened my heart more fully to the joys of God," wrote a reader of Rachel's first book-and Laugh Yourself to Sleep promises much more of the same!
Gift of Grace Books was established to glorify God in thanksgiving for his abundant grace.
2 Corinthians 4:15 "All this is for your benefit, so that the grace that is reaching more and more people may cause thanksgiving to overflow to the glory of God." |

 | Lovely reading Sep 13, 2007 |
I wish I could say I am the kind of person who gets a devotion book and then reads one a day. Ha! I devour the book, enjoying it all the way. Does that make me an unconventional woman?
This is a good book for re-reading, and I use different devotions at Bible study and in different situations. Most of the stories are easy to relate to; all of the devotions are worthwhile.
I think I liked Wake Up Laughing a little better. I'm going to try the one about the messy house next. | | | | Laugh Yourself to Sleep Jun 14, 2007 |
| What a very funny, cute book! It arrived in a timely manner! I am really enjoying it. | | | | Laughter That's Good for the Soul Jan 1, 2007 |
Being a minutia maven to rival even the author, I empathize with Rachel St. John-Gilbert's wrestling over the paradoxical title of her latest release, Laugh Yourself to Sleep. Be realistic: How can laughing encourage sleeping? Surely only a boring read could engender peaceful
slumber. If this book were anything like Rachel's first book, Wake Up Laughing, I knew I was bound to emit big, fat belly laughs guaranteed to stimulate insomnia. But as I read afresh about the madcapped mayhem around which her life revolves, I understood . . . When you read Rachel's writing, you laugh so hard, it's like engaging in a full-blown workout. There's no option but to fall, exhausted, into bed and into deep, peaceful, laugh-induced slumber. But not for long! You'll want to wake up early to read the next delightfully daffy devotional! Without question, St. John-Gilbert is the Christian Queen of Quirk, a handle which has endeared her to thousands of readers. Her writing and humor emanate not only from her life experiences, but from how she sees them. Who but Rachel would compare her bountiful bust-line to two drooping dachshund dogs or her midriff to a tenacious, tenderloin roll? And as she does, it's we who roll on the floor, laughing not just at her, but at ourselves. Rachel is "every woman's wacky woman." She lives and writes our experiences. Rachel helps me lighten up about myself, but get serious about God--serious about the fact that He loves me and delights in me. Rachel has taught me that God has the greatest sense of humor of all--that He wants me to laugh because it's good for my soul. Boy do I love a God like that-a God (the only God) who loves me, who delights in me, who laughs with me. With St. John-Gilbert's reminder to laugh myself contendedly to sleep because God loves me and never leaves me, I will wake up laughing in joy, ready to face another new day. Thank you, Rachel, for helping me to laugh and helping me always to have hope (and for doing it through your excellent, gifted writing)! --Lynn D.
