Item Description...

The NKJV Pew Bible is updated and improved, yet with the same economical price as before. Completely reset in a handsome typeface, it offers a bolder, more modern look.

The King James Version Bible has long been trusted and used in churches since its inception in the year 1611. The New King James Version maintains all the original translation's strict adherence to Biblical texts, but replaces older, less common expressions, with more contemporary language. For example: "you", instead of "thee" or "thou"; "hear" instead of "heareth".

The NKJV Pew Bible is available in traditional KJV Pew Bible-Black and also NKJV Pew Bible-Brown ; to complement any church sanctuary. These lovely hardcover Pew and Library Bibles are durable for years of service.

Features include:

  • Presentation page
  • Words of Christ in red
  • Dictionary-Concordance
  • Full-color maps

The See-Inside feature below is to display the Bible contents. The correct cover is shown above.

Classic pew bible with some bleed through  Jul 23, 2005
This is a typical NKJV bible in a red hardcover edition. It is black letter, verse format, and includes all the normal translation notes including those saying where the Greek text the NKJV is based on differs from the critical text or majority text. The footnotes symbols in the text are very small and do not distract the reader. This edition does not have annoying "self pronouncing" text. This bible does not have cross references except where scripture directly quotes other scripture.

One special feature I find somewhat annoying is that the name of the book (eg. Psalms) is printed in a black box on the outside of each page. The concept is that it works somewhat like thumb indexes so that the reader can find a book quickly by flipping through.

The only helps included in this bible are a harmony of the gospels at the end.

The paper is somewhere between onion skin and normal book paper. The bible stays open by itself when opened on a desk. Inner margins are excellent, wider than normal so that the inner words can be easily read.

The biggest problem with this edition is the bleed through, which unfortunately is typical of bibles. This edition is not worse than the average bible. I can see not only the current page, but the page on the other side. The paper is thick enough that the underlying page cannot be read easily through blank pages though. This bible is readable, especially when a page is picked up while being read, something that cuts bleed through.

If someone wants a verse format, black letter, text only NKJV then this bible will do the job for them.

Hey, Its a Bible!  Apr 18, 2002
Well How do I review a Bible? Its great content is aided by its clear style of writing. I had a hard time with King James Version which is why I went to New King James. I like the way it says things in a more concise way without all of the antiquated language.
