Item Description... The Jesus Storybook Bible tells the story beneath all the stories in the Bible. At the center of the story is a baby, the child upon whom everything will depend. Every story whispers his name. From Noah to Moses to the great King David--every story points to him. He is like the missing piece in a puzzle--the piece that makes all the other pieces fit together. From the Old Testament through the New Testament, as the story unfolds, children will pick up the clues and piece together the puzzle. A Bible like no other, this book invites children to join in the greatest of all adventures, to discover for themselves that Jesus is at the center of God's great story of salvation--and at the center of their story too. Recommended for ages 4 to 8.

 | Jesus focused book for children Mar 26, 2007 |
| If you are a parent who is tired of man-centered children's books using the Bible as inspiration to help your children have faith in what they do then this is the book for you. Unlike most children's bibles that say "have faith like Daniel and it can save you" or "you can destroy giants like David" this book says "have faith in Daniel's God" and "David's God can kill your giants" which is refreshing. It also points all stories in the Old Testament to Jesus which is awesome. If you believe that the whole Bible is about Jesus I can recommend this book with great confidence. It has been great for my faith as well as I read it to my son. Enjoy this book and I'm thankful to its author for writing it. I wish parents had more like it. | | | | Unique Bibile story book Mar 24, 2007 |
| I love this new Bible story book. It approaches all of the Bible as the great story about the Prince who is coming to save his Bride. All of the OT stories are presented as foreshadowing the coming of Christ. The last chapter is even about the book of Revelation and the consummation of all things. How many children's Bible story books have that? But not only do I love it, my almost three year old daughter loves it, too. I hope the author will write more Bible story books. The illustrations are the only thing I don't really like. They are too like ugly modern cartoons for my taste. | | | | Best Children's Bible! Mar 22, 2007 |
This is the first children's Bible that I actually like. It is Christ-centered and I love the redemptive historical flow of the entire Bible. I would strongly recommend this Bible to anyone who takes the Bible seriously and who wants to educate their children in reformed traditions. | | | | Wonderful children's book Mar 13, 2007 |
| We need more books like this. Kid friendly, yet clearly biblical... not just the old "do good, be good" approach. Both this book, and "What God Has Always Wanted" are excellent resources for parents and teachers! | | | | Hard To Get Better Than This Mar 9, 2007 |
In Sally Lloyd-Jones' unique, kid-friendly style, The Jesus Storybook Bible tells 43 Bible stories from the book of Genesis through Revelation. But this book is more than a mere collection of Bible stories. Each story in some way relates to Jesus and who he is, giving children the big picture of what God is all about.
What I Like: Sally Lloyd-Jones has a unique gift for writing for children. Her sense of humor is spinkled throughout - and does not detract from the importance of the Bible's message. I also appreciate the author's clear understanding that parents must help children understand that Bible stories are different from fairy tales. As she says: "You see, the best thing about this story is--it's true. It takes the whole Bible to tell this story. And at the center of the story there is a baby. Every story in the Bible whispers his name. He is like the missing piece in a puzzle--the piece that makes all the other pieces fit together and suddenly you can see a beautiful picture." The illustrations by award-winning artist Jago are also engaging, colorful, and often look beyond the obvious.
What I Dislike: Nothing.
Overall Rating: Excellent.
Age Appeal: 4 - 8.
