A Very Stong Willed Mother  Jan 9, 2007
I have not read this latest version of Let's Roll, but I had read the original version after the death of Todd Beamer. I lent my original version to my aunt & she never returned my book. I was so happy to have purchased this one as Lisa Beamer has updated her kids pictures, it is so nice to see how they have grown. Lisa Beamer is a very stong willed woman with 3 small children to raise alone, I don't think I could have been as strong as she has been.. This book will bring you to tears & also make you laugh, it is well written by a very strong & well rounded woman..

GREAT BOOK  Dec 2, 2006
I rate this book F for FANTASTIC. This book tells the story of her husbands early life, family, her early life, and their life together and about her religious faith, childrens welfare, and determination. It is such a heartwarming well written book and a very beautiful, and poignant story. I feel for this courageous and admired woman for her strength and determination. I cried during some parts of the book but its not a depressing story but very touching and moving. I love this book and people who are thinking of buying it should definitely read this book. I bought this book at a book fair at work along with Growing up King. Both books are fantastic. Money well spend on both books.

What a beautiful woman!  Nov 10, 2006
If you or anyone you know have suffered tragic loss of any kind, this book shows how one woman put everything into eternal perspective. She inspires me and I have thanfully not been through anything near what she has. Buy it, read it and pass it on!

New Paperback?  Sep 30, 2006
Had the sales dwindled so now there is a paperback edition in 2006?

The view from the shelter of faith  Sep 22, 2006
"Let's Roll" is the story of the lives of Lisa Beamer of her husband Todd, who was killed aboard United Flight 93 on September 11th, 2001. Lisa's recital of that fateful day and its aftermath was fascinating. Beginning with the mundane sounds of a man dressing in preparation for a business flight, and ending in horror and death, the contrast of suburban ordinariness with blood and terror is gripping.

Unlike some, I will not criticize Lisa Beamer for her decision to write the book. Whatever her actual character, her experience shields her (as far as I am concerned) from negative remarks about her character or her motives. Some, however, might be disturbed by elements of Lisa's brand of Christianity, which has little room for those who do not believe in Jesus.

I found the chirpiness and sentimentality of the pre-9/11 material to be almost intolerable. If you prefer your biographies with a little edge, I'd suggest skipping the first third of the book.

Short on insight, long on cliche and platitude, and written from a very sheltered perspective, "Let's Roll" is nonetheless a valuable lens into the very real anguish of one 9/11 family. While I found its version of Christianity off-putting, my wife found it to be an inspiring story of how faith can pull you through hardship. So, there you go.
