Publishers Description
The highly anticipated novel that delivers what romantic suspense fans have long awaited-the return to Rock Harbor. A mysterious crying in the night leads search-and-rescue worker Bree Matthews and her dog Samson to an abandoned baby in the woods outside of Rock Harbor, Michigan. Against objections from her husband, Bree takes the baby girl in. Quickly she begins a search for the mother-presumably the woman reported missing just days earlier. While teams scour the wintery forests, Bree ferrets out clues about the woman. Where is she and why did she leave the child behind? And how does that connect to Bree's first husband's mysterious death yars ago in the Upper Peninsula? Everything Bree thought she knew about her life is turned upside down with the sound of a Cry in the Night.

 | good book May 27, 2010 |
| I read the entire series of 4 and this book was the one that I liked the least. It was still very good but some of the ideas were far fetched. But would not skip it because it tied up lose ends from the rest of the series. | | | | Cry in the Night Apr 22, 2010 |
| Received this book right away. Was in good condition. Am very satisfied with my purchase. | | | | Colleen Coble TOPPED HERSELF! Jan 13, 2010 |
Colleen Coble is one of my Top 5. I love her books. I love how she drags me into her stories within a few pages, and she just refuses to let me go. This series is one of the best of its kind, but Cry in the Night actually did something I didn't think was possible. Colleen Coble has TOPPED HERSELF. As good as she is, was, always has been ... This time she's even better.
Rich plot, deep characterization, gorgeous backdrop, engaging dialogue. She's the best at what she does. I enjoyed this book from one cover to the other. And I can't help hoping Bree keeps whispering to the author with secrets and suggestions about keeping the series going. There's still more to be told. | | | | Rock Harbor Series Rocks! Oct 12, 2009 |
The story begins with an abandoned baby left in the snow in the harsh Michigan winter. Bree and her search dog Samson is part of a search and rescue team and they find the baby bundled up lying in the snow under a fallen tree. Although there have been a couple of reports of missing babies from the nearby Ojibwa Indian reservation, none match the description of the baby.
Bree's son Davy insists he sees someone bury the baby that looks just like his father, Rob. Problem: His father died in a plan crash. Davy starts believing the Ojibwa legend that it's an indigo, (a mythical creature that the Ojibwa believe in) that he really saw and becomes very frightened.
Bree worries that Davy still hasn't gotten over losing his father in the crash. He was in the crash with his father but survived. Bree is now happily married for the second time to Kade but she starts seeing glimpses of someone who looks like her first husband, Rob.
The story continues with much suspense. This is a wonderful book. I have read all the Rock Harbor books by Colleen Coble and highly recommend them. | | | | Full of suspense! Jun 11, 2009 |
Cry in the Night is a continuation of the Rock Harbor series. I haven't read the previous books but I never felt lost or just thrown into the story. This book can very easily stand alone because Colleen does a fantastic job of filling in the missing pieces without going overboard.
This book is full of mystery and suspense, without the romance. Bree is a strong and independent woman; Davy is her son who is getting to the age where he wants to be treated less like a child; and Kade is Bree's new husband after her first husband died (in a previous book). When they start seeing things that just can't be real this new family could be torn apart in an instant. With so many strange things happening (missing babies, murder, suspicious people, a new mine), how can it all be tied together?
I loved how the story gave just enough information to see what is going on but also kept me wondering and trying to figure out "who dunnit." It was a page turner because the characters would get so close to being able to figure it all out but then would just miss it.
