Best New CD Feb 22, 2007
This is the best new CD out there in Christian music! These songs are powerful - taken from God's Word. Amazing Grace and Uncreated One are two of my favorites. Such passion and heart go into his singing! A must have if you like to praise God!
See the Morning is quite a blessing! Feb 13, 2007
I am a longtime member of a thriving, growing praise and worship team at a large Presbyterian church in the central valley of California. We are quite pleased with Chris Tomlin's work (see the TIME magazine article about him!)and REALLY like his music -- to listen to excellent quality music, with a REALLY powerful message behind the lyrics which are also high quality, says a lot about this CD project!
Radio airplays does not always match the CD version Feb 2, 2007
Although Chris Tomlin's CD is a good listen, I bought it for one song: "Everlasting God". However, I was disappointed to find that the version that appears on this CD is not the more edgy rock version that is played on my local Christian radio station. It should have at least been added as an extra. This version is like Chris Tomlin meets the Ray Conniff Singers. What a disappointment! You would think they would not be so tricky with business when it comes to Christian music. Guess they are all the same! The low rating is not for Chris' work but for the record company.
God-ward Again Jan 17, 2007
As a songwriter and worship leader, I count on Chris Tomlin to produce fresh new hymns and God-ward worship for the church. Once again, I was delighted with his collaborative release. Packed with instant favorites. From the smooth, catchy rendition of the traditional "How Can I Keep from Singing" to the refreshed "Amazing Grace", this is way happy worship.
Sink into the cozy groove of Brenton Brown's & Ken Riley's "Everlasting God". Hit "Repeat" and soak your way to Heaven with "Glory in the Highest". "Awesome is the Lord Most High" is classic Tomlin-style corporate. For some serious warfare praise, crank up "Let God Arise". (Be careful playing this one driving past a graveyard. If the tombstones start to rattle, give it some gas!) Slow pickin', tender hymn "Uncreated One" is just lovely. The declarative "Glorious" is powerful and preparatory for the coming age. And, AT LAST, in our generation, a complimentary Chorus for Amazing Grace...with a classic melody to match! If this set doesn't inspire you, check your pulse. Thanks again, Chris and company!
